Jackie & Charlie- Baldivis Farm Stay

I remember thinking “I love winter weddings!” when Jackie & Charlie booked their wedding on the 1st June 2019.  However the day uncannily ended up to be one of the hottest days in June.  My first stop was to photograph Charlie and his Groomsman at Golden Ponds.  The fellas were very chilled and relaxed.

Then to Jackie and her Bridesmaids who were staying at one of Baldivis Farm Stays Cottages.  I entered into a flurry of fun and excitement.  It was going to be a great wedding!

Here is a little bit of background on Jackie & Charlie, their favourite parts as well as their tips and vendor list.

How did you and your partner first meet?
We first met at a Rural Youth event–State Convention March 1999

How did you get engaged?
We were a couple of days out from heading overseas to Alaska for a holiday and having dinner at the Last Drop pub in Beelier. In good FB fashion Charlie had posted he was going to propose and hoping I would say yes. Charlie got down on one knee and asked me to marry him! I said yes BUT that I wanted a better proposal venue than the local pub! (Couldn’t he have just waited until Alaska - hellooo!) He told me he didn’t want to carry the ring with him in case he lost it. BUT, then on a scenic helicopter ride out of Juneau just the two of us. We landed on the glacier for the and Charlie proposed again, and, of course, I said yes again.

Please describe your wedding ceremony.

We got married at Baldivis Farm Stay approx, with 70 friends and family in attendance Charlie made an entrance on his motorcycle and walked down the aisle to ‘The Entertainer’ and our dog Ollie carried the rings down the aisle We literally tied the knot with a knot-tying ceremony.

What was the theme of your wedding?

We love simple, rustic things, so that was a perfect theme for our big day.

What did you wear?
I wore a Maggie Sottero ‘Kirstie’ ivory lace over blush satin, it was strapless with a lace chapel train - I felt so beautiful in it. Both me and the bridemaids rocked faux fur stoles for the winter chill Your flowers were beautiful! What did you choose? I had burgundy Peonies, dusky pink roses and white and black berries with green accent foliage. We had a touch of tartan in the Gordon ribbon of the groom’s button hole.

That cake- wow! Tell us about it please!
Our cake really was amazing!!! The cake was 3 tier created by Katie at Bridal Select Cakes. It was inspired by a picture on Pinterest really early in my wedding planning and was one of the few non-negotiables of our day! The top tier was chocolate expresso mud (we managed to save that for our 1st wedding anniversary, its a constant temptation in our freezer!) and the 2nd tier was marble mud cake. The 3rd delicious tier was white chocolate raspberry. To make it even more special, it was placed on a hand crafted white gum slab that Charlie especially made.

What was the highlight of the day?
