Their Wedding. Their Way. Dom & Pete’s intimate backyard wedding

Dominic & Peter, a love story in the making for over sixteen years.

Here is how it all happened…

How did you and your husband first meet?

On the streets of Northbridge, classy.

How did you get engaged?

We were engaged 4 times over 16 years. The last time we made a quick dash down the aisle before any one changed their mind again. Plus we had the kids so backing out was not an option.
The first time was in a castle in Spain. The last time was over oysters at the Rose and Crown.

Please describe your wedding ceremony.

It was in our backyard, but we made it glam. We got married by our bali style pool, red carpet, beautiful garden, music man, woodfired pizza, 60 close friends, free flowing beer, wine and champagne, it was perfect.

Did you employ a certain style or theme for the day?

We personalised it. We used the wedding as a reason to finish the yard. We planned every detail. It was all ‘us’.

Please describe your bridal gown, your husband’s suit and your bridesmaids’dresses.

My gown was Lush. Lace bodice, v neck, v back and beautiful fit and flare crepe de chine skirt with small train.
Hubby wore a dark grey suit with vest, open collar white shirt, sleeves rolled up (to show off his hot tats) and an awesome beard.
His groomsmen wore the same but black shirts and less facial hair.
My babes all wore bright block colour dresses above the knee and were beautiful pops of colour complimenting the groomsman, and me!

Please describe your flowers.

Bright colours to match my maids! Several types of tropical flowers in a large arrangment.

What music or entertainment did you use/provide?

Professional guitar player/singer/dj who played a mix of acoustic and produced music.

What cake did you choose and what did it look like?

We had a doughnut tower made of Italian bomboloni in four flavours with a chocolate cake and translucent white icing on the top tier.

What was the highlight of the day?

The ceremony, it was beautiful. We had our grandparents rings for the ring exchange which was special. It was sentimental with some humour and spontaneous dancing by the bridal party. The car ride there was also wonderful and the photo shoot was lots of fun.

Please tell us what you think made your wedding day unique.

Um, it took 16 years to get there.
It was personalised and intimate.

What advice/tips do you have for other brides?

Have all the things you want, its’ your day.  Take time to be present on the day as it goes so fast. Plus clearly delegate responsibilities so nothing gets overlooked.
